This week's question: StuffIt!

Posted by Smith Micro Blogger on May 4, 2010 4:09:54 AM

You learn something new every day, right? That's why I'm digging this whole Question Jar thing. I've been here less than a year, so I get to ask other people who know more than me.

This week's question is: When was StuffIt first ported to the PC platform?

That sent StuffIt's product manager, Eric Kopf, scratching his head and digging through his notes. "Wow. When I first started in 1995, our lead QA person was working on testing the PC version of StuffIt. I know we did work for AOL which preempted the release of that, but I can't remember exactly when it came out."

"StuffIt Expander for Windows 1.0 came out in 1995. This was a drag and drop GUI app, just like the Mac version of Expander. Since then we've been releasing updates and trying to bring a similar feature set to both platforms."

Thanks Eric for helping me out. And thanks to everyone for their questions! Keep them coming please! Include your email and the software your question is about. If your question is picked, you will get a $15 coupon for Content Paradise.
