Learning new things with Manga Studio

Awhile ago I heard that there are three different types of knowledge: the things you know you know (like the Pacific Ocean is cold where I live), the things you know you don't know (like how to build a rocket), and the things you don't know you don't know (like...?). Man, this blows my mind!

When I stated chatting with little jo, this idea came to the front of my mind when she told me she had only just begun using Manga Studio a month ago when she was looking for software that was compatible with her tablet. This art is from her first graphic novel 100 Futons, 1 Grain of Rice.

So little jo learned something she didn't know she didn't know, and in talking to her, so did I. Her favorite way to have her eggs? "Chawan mushi - A savoury steamed Japanese egg custard." Oh dear lord, a new way to eat eggs? I'm heading over to Google to find out how to make this delicious custard!

I asked what her favorite feature of Manga Studio is so far: "I love the Maru pen. I love the separate sketch layer and ink layers. I used to use a ton of tracing paper. I would be covered with pencil smudge. I love the fact that this is so much better than paper and pencil and ink - in every way."

If you're interested in checking out her art, you can check out her user story and her blog. I've really enjoyed chatting with little jo and looking at her art.

This is a woman after my own heart: when I asked her what her desired superpower was, she told me it would be to eat whatever she wanted without having it do any harm. Why hadn't I thought of that amazing superpower? I guess it's just one of those things that were in the list of things I didn't know I didn't know ;)
