The dark side of Anime Studio

Posted by Smith Micro Blogger on Jan 7, 2011 4:13:59 AM

Despite my generally sunny disposition and my aversion to fear-based writing, not everything I like is super-happy or silly. As Sally said in When Harry Met Sally, "I have just as much of a dark side as the next person."

That's why I was drawn to this animation made with Anime Studio by Brett Walker, called The Last Ride. I love amusement parks too, so this struck a chord for sure.

I caught up with Brett who created the animation for a final university project at the University of Central Lancashire. It took him seven months to finish and he used Anime Studio along with Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Effects.

He was learning on the job, so to speak, because it was his first experience with Anime Studio, but he liked it. When I asked him what feature stood out to him he said this: "Definitely the bone system. I love the fact that you could do a simple character drawing and then bring it to life using the skeleton you can insert."

Brett teaches art in a high school now. "Being around art everyday is what I call a good job!" I completely agree :D
